Dr. Freda D. Givens
Dr. Freda Givens is an educational professional dedicated to empowering today’s youth. She currently serves as the principal of a school in the Metropolitan Atlanta area and is the proud leader of a dynamic group of professionals. Providing leadership, vision and strategic direction has resulted in great gains in achievement for her students.
Dr. Givens draws on a wide array of professional experiences that come from her previous positions as Middle School Principal, Assistant Principal, Instructional Technology Specialist, and Music Teacher in both secondary and post-secondary schools.
Dr. Givens holds degrees in Music Education at the Bachelor’s and Master’s levels. Her Specialist Degree is in Curriculum Management. She also holds a Doctor of Educational Leadership Degree. Her post-doctoral studies include continual professional development to remain abreast of current trends in education including completion of the Harvard Principal’s Center Summer Institute.
Dr. Givens serves with various community organizations. As a classroom teacher, she was twice honored as Teacher of the Year. Among many other recognitions throughout her career, Dr. Givens was honored with a Resolution from the State of Georgia General Assembly in 2017 recognizing her achievements as an educational leader. In 2021, the school she leads was included in a $2.8 million Innovative Approaches to Literacy (IAL) grant awarded by the U.S. Department of Education through ArtsNOW, an authentic arts integration non-profit. She has also served as a conference presenter at the regional, state, and national level.
