Dr. Freda D. Givens

Dr. Freda Givens is a dedicated educational leader committed to empowering today’s youth and shaping tomorrow’s change-makers. With a rich career spanning multiple roles in K–12 and higher education, she has consistently inspired growth, innovation, and excellence in learning communities.

For many years, Dr. Givens served as principal at schools in the Metropolitan Atlanta area, where she led high-performing teams with vision, strategic direction, and a relentless focus on student achievement. Under her leadership, one elementary school earned the prestigious Georgia Beats the Odds designation for multiple years due to sustained academic growth.

Dr. Givens currently serves as the Chief Executive Officer of G Clef Solutions, LLC, a premier educational leadership consulting firm. She brings a wealth of experience from her previous roles as a principal, leadership mentor, assistant principal, instructional specialist, and music educator in both K–12 and post-secondary settings. She holds degrees in Music Education at the bachelor’s and master’s levels, a Specialist degree in Curriculum Management, and a Doctorate in Educational Leadership. Her commitment to lifelong learning is further demonstrated by her post-doctoral professional development, including participation in the Harvard Principal’s Center Summer Institute.

A respected voice in the educational community, Dr. Givens has presented at regional, state, and national conferences and has earned numerous honors, including being named Teacher of the Year twice. In 2017, she was recognized by the Georgia General Assembly with a formal resolution commending her outstanding contributions as an educational leader. Her steadfast support for the arts played a pivotal role in a significant achievement in 2021, when a school under her leadership was awarded a $2.8 million Innovative Approaches to Literacy (IAL) grant from the U.S. Department of Education through ArtsNOW, a national nonprofit dedicated to arts integration.

Beyond her work in education, Dr. Givens is also an accomplished musician, vocalist, and composer. Her original composition, Whom Shall I Fear, was recently performed by the Akron Symphony Orchestra during their Gospel Meets Symphony concert—marking her orchestral debut as a composer. She continues to write and release music, passionately advocating for arts and music education as essential pillars of youth enrichment and development.
